First grilling of the year!

Today it was in the 70's and we decided to get outside and grill! We made kabobs on the grill with chicken, green peppers and mushrooms, and we had some parmesan roasted asparagus. Light healthy meal, since we're both trying to stay on track......

What a beautiful day!

Spring Equinox

This weekend Josh came up and stayed with us. I overheard him talking about reading something on the internet -- something to do with eggs and the spring equinox. I dismissed it as an "urban legend" type story, so I didn't pay too much attention. Later in the day I walked into the kitchen and freaked out because I saw this:

None of us could believe it really worked. You can actually balance an egg on it's end during the spring equinox. I tried it a couple days later in the week, just because I wanted to reassure myself...and the egg wouldn't balance. Freaky!

Melt Bar & Grilled

Yum, yum, yum! This has to be one of my favorite places for lunch on the west side. This week, Jamie and I took my friend Crystal to lunch for her birthday. I let her pick the place, and when she chose Melt I did a little happy dance inside!

Since I post all of the food we cook at home on my other blog, I didn't really think this fit in there...but it was so good it had to be posted somewhere! Anyone who comes to visit me from Dallas...this is where we'll be eating for lunch! They do grilled cheese over 30 different ways!

I had an Eisbock beer. Melt's Big Ass Beer List

The Monte Cristo - My favorite sandwich of all time, and Melt makes an awesome one!

For dessert, we all shared a fried Twinkie. It really reminded me of home {Fried Twinkies at the State Fair of Texas}....

Snow Fun at Home

Unfortunately the snowtubing at Brandywine was canceled. I was all ready to trudge through the snow that day, so I decided to just go out in the front yard. We got quite a bit of snow! More than I expected....it was so high that when I went running out, I got tripped up and fell down. Good learning experience for the future. :)

Here are a few photos & videos.

Snow Fun at Brandywine

Jamie and I were invited to Crystal's 30th birthday party tomorrow! The group is going to meet at Brandywine Resort for snow tubing, and then go to Crystal's house for a party.

I have never done any kind of snow sport/activity before, so this will be a first for me! Heck, up until 5 years ago I'd never even seen real snow! This morning Jamie pulled up some YouTube videos of people skiing and tubing at Brandywine, and it looks like so much fun! I can't wait until tomorrow! We're going to take lots of pictures and videos, so I'll post them soon!

Wish me luck! lol

Blue October

We're going to see Blue October again on April 18th! This time they'll be at House of Blues here in Cleveland. I have been a long time fan of Blue October. I was listening to them in high school (or just after - I'm pretty sure it was around 1997). Since I'm from Dallas (and Blue October is from Houston) they were getting radio play on KDGE in Dallas way back then....and I have been a fan THAT LONG! I introduced Jamie to Blue October's music after we met, and he loved them. Shortly after, they started getting national radio play and now everyone likes them!

This will be our 4th time to see them. The first time was for Jamie's 40th birthday. We were in Dallas for his birthday, and I surprised him with a weekend trip down to Austin to see them at Stubbs BBQ. The second time we saw them at the Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio. Third time was at Edgefest in Dallas, Texas (well, Plano really) at Pizza Hut Park. Now we'll be able to add Cleveland HOB to the list.

And this time......I am determined to get a picture taken with them!!!!!! Whatever it takes! :)

Valentine's

For Valentine's, Jamie and I stayed home and cooked together. We made Chicken Parmesan with pasta, three cheese tomato sauce, a salad and garlic bread. It was soooo good!! And even better was the box of chocolates and the red velvet cake that Jamie brought home for me for dessert!

After dinner we watched Couples Retreat. Hilarious movie! Perfect date night movie, especially for Valentine's!
