Before the concert, the hot weather outside forced us to take shelter in an air-conditioned bar. Well, forced ME to take shelter...Jamie said he could have stayed in the heat all day. But taking shelter turned out to be a good thing, because we found a table at an old bar called the White Elephant Saloon. It has been there since the 1860's, and Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders there. I saw Jamie make a post on Facebook that he was "feeling very cowboy".
While at the White Elephant Saloon we caught an acoustical performance by Scott Copeland. As it turns out, Scott wrote a song that Cross Canadian Ragweed recorded, one of the bands we were waiting to see later that night. He had some great songs, so we stayed for his entire set and then bought his CD.
Finally, we went over to the Red Dirt Roundup outdoor concert at Billy Bob's. We saw Robert Earl Keen, The Wallflowers and Cross Canadian Ragweed. It was quite an adventure. I left our camera in a port-o-potty, but luckily we recovered it. We took tons of photos and videos. It was a LONG, but very fun day.
